The Week in Horror: If you’re afraid of clowns, do not watch this trailer

Welcome back to “The Week in Horror,” HitFix's ongoing series that rounds up the 10 most pertinent fright-genre stories to break over the last seven days. In this week's edition: “The Crow” remake may have finally, once and for all, for realsies this time found its Eric Draven; a newly-demure pop star joins TV's premiere horror anthology series; and if you're scared of clowns, you might wanna skip number four (is all I'm saying). See below for the full roundup.

1. “The Crow” may fly with Jack Huston

After losing Luke Evans back in January, the embattled remake has now set its sights on “Boardwalk Empire” actor Jack Huston, best known for his role as assassin Richard Harrow on the HBO series. Only seeing this if they bring back Bai Ling.

2. Niecy Nash signs on for victimhood in Ryan Murphy's “Scream Queens”

The awesome, underappreciated “Getting On” star and “Reno 911!” scene stealer has signed on for the horror-comedy inventor's upcoming anthology series that's also set to star Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts. Speaking of Jamie Lee, have you ever seen this photo of her angrily sipping a beverage? I recommend it.

4. Afraid of clowns? Keep moving…

Because here's the trailer for “Clown,” (!) an Eli Roth-produced horror flick about a man who turns into a demonic clown. Help me God. This looks legitimately terrifying! Pro Tip for the kids: if you dad is calling you down to the basement and he sounds a little…unhinged? Don't. Go. Down. There.

5. Danny Pudi wants to make you laugh and scream

The “Community” star has signed on for the NBC pilot “Strange Calls,” a half-hour comedy about an “affable but down on his luck young police officer” who discovers the rural town he's been transferred to boasts a “bizarre supernatural underbelly.” Hey, remember that time he got videobombed by Alison Brie?

6. Even more “Bates Motel” promos

Geez, J.M. Barrie really traumatized that kid.

7. “The Lazarus Effect” is “one of those entirely okay little horror films”

At least according to our resident critic Drew McWeeny. Check out his review here.

8. Let's all get excited for this “Salem” Season 2 key art

TV posters! It's what we do here. Cackle to your heart's content with these new promo images, which promise a “witch war” in Season 2 of the period horror series. So I guess, it'll be like the “Aliens”  to Season 1's “Alien,” then? (All images can be found in the gallery at the bottom of the page.)

9. “NightCry” reaches its Kickstarter goal

The “spiritual successor” to the cult “Clock Tower” video game series has reached its fundraising goal on Kickstarter, raising over $314,000 from 2,408 backers. So inspired by your philanthropic spirit, guys.

10. Watch the trailer for SXSW Midnighters selection “Pod”

“A family intervention goes horrifically awry within the snowy confines of an isolated lake house.” Or as I like to call it, just another boring weekend.
