This week in Gaga: ‘Today’ appearance, ‘G.U.Y.’ video to debut and tour art

Fresh from her vomit stunt at SXSW, Lady Gaga is continuing to build buzz for her Roseland Ballroom residency and “artRave” world tour. This morning (March 21) she appeared on the “Today” show to defend her recent performance and promote her forthcoming video for “G.U.Y.” Watch the clip below.

Gaga kicked off the “Today” interview with a teaser of the “G.U.Y.” video, which was shot at Hearst Castle. Host Savannah Guthrie inevitably asked Gaga about her decision to collaborate with Millie Brown, the woman who threw up on her during the SXSW set.

“I support her and what she does,” Gaga said. “‘ARTPOP,” my new album, is about bringing art and music together and the sprit of creative rebellion. For us, that performance was art in its purest form. But we totally understand that some people won't be into it.” Critics included Demi Lovato, who tweeted that it glamorized eating disorders.

The video for “G.U.Y.” will debut on “Dateline” this Saturday (March 22) at 8 p.m.

Mother Monster also released two new pieces of art this week. Below the video, check out the poster for her seven-night Roseland Ballroom residency, which starts March 28. The image for the poster dates back to 2008, before Gaga was famous, and underneath the photo she”s quoted as telling the photographer: “I”m Lady Gaga. A singer/songwriter. You”re going to know me one day.”

Below the poster is the stage rendering for the “artRave” tour, which has transparent runways and sci-fi touches like a backdrop that”s an image of space.

The “artRAVE” tour will run from May 4 to November 10 and – despite rumors that it is struggling with ticket sales – Gaga added six new U.S. stops this week. See the dates and cities below.
