We smell a Tony. Okay, maybe not. Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is headed to a theater near you. The Nederlander Organization, one of the biggest producers of live theatrical productions on Broadway and around the world, has secured the rights to Jackson’s massive 1982 hit, “Thriller.”

According to Billboard, the musical will be based around the groundbreaking, John Landis-directed,14-minute video that featured Jackson (in a very trend-setting red leather jacket–or was it pleather?) as he protected his gal pal from zombies, only to turn into one himself.

Jackson will reportedly be involved in the development of the project. “The musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson-authorized version of ‘Thriller’ and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process,” the Nederlander Organization said.

Songs from both the “Thriller” and 1979’s “Off the Wall” will be used in the “Thriller: The Musical.”

No word on when “Thriller” will open.
