TV Ratings: CBS, NBC top ‘Bachelorette’ on Memorial Day

Fast National ratings for Monday, May 25, 2009.

ABC ran a new Monday lineup on Memorial Day, but the network’s “The Bachelorette” and “Here Come the Newlyweds” couldn’t top NBC’s new programming or CBS’ repeats.

Among adults 18-49, CBS won Monday night with a 2.1 rating, nipping ABC’s 2.0 rating and the 1.8 rating for NBC. FOX was fourth in the key demographic with a 1.6 rating, followed by the 0.4 rating for The CW.

Overall, though, NBC averaged an estimated 7.34 million viewers to go with a 4.8 rating/8 share. CBS was close behind with a 4.6/8. ABC’s 3.8/6 was good for third, beating the 3.3/6 for FOX. The CW trailed with a 0.8/1.

NBC began the night in first with a 4.6/8 for “Dateline.” ABC’s “Bachelorette” finished season with a 3.8/5, with CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother” taking third, nipping the 3.0/5 for “House” on FOX. The CW’s “One Tree Hill” was fifth with a 0.9/2.

CBS moved into first at 9 p.m. with a 5.1/8 for “Two and a Half Men” and “Rules of Engagement.” “Dateline NBC” improved to a 4.8/8 in its second hour, bettering the 4.2/7 for ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” FOX’s “Bones” had a 3.5/6 for fourth. The CW’s “One Tree Hill” stayed fifth.

At 10 p.m. CBS had a narrow win with a 5.1/9 for a “CSI: Miami” repeat, edging out the 5.0/9 for a new “Medium” on NBC. The season premiere of “Here Come the Newlyweds” had a 3.3/6 on ABC.
