TV Ratings: FOX, CBS split competitive Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, Feb. 2, 2009.

On a competitive Monday laden with new programming across-the-board, FOX and CBS found was to be happy.

FOX won the key 18-49 demographic, doing a 4.6 rating. CBS was a close second in the demo with a 4.3 rating, followed by respectable showings for ABC (3.7 rating) and NBC (3.3 rating). The CW was fifth with a 1.2 rating.

Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 13.27 million viewers and an 8.3 rating/13 share, nipping the 7.7/11 for FOX. ABC’s 6.1/9 was good for third, while NBC’s Monday drama relaunch had a 5.2/8. The CW’s 1.7/2 trailed.

At 8 p.m. FOX won with an 8.7/13 for the 100th episode of “House.” ABC’s “The Bachelor” took second, nipping the 6.4/10 averaged by “Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother” on CBS. NBC was third with a 4.9/7 for a 3-D “Chuck,” which hit season highs in many demos. The CW’s “Gossip Girl” had a 1.7/2 for fifth.

CBS moved into first at 9 p.m. with “Two and a Half Men” (10.1/15) and “Worst Week” (6.4/9). ABC’s “The Bachelor” had a robust 7.2/11 in its second hour, beating the 6.6/10 for FOX’s “24,” which finished fourth in the demo. NBC’s “Heroes” was fourth overall (and third in the demo) with a 5.2/8 in its return. The CW’s “One Tree Hill” was fifth.

“CSI: Miami” gave CBS a 10.2/17 in the 10 p.m. hour. NBC grabbed second with a  5.5/9 for the return of “Medium. ABC’s “True Beauty” was a close third
