Fast National ratings for Thursday, April 30, 2009.

Sticking with the season’s normal Thursday pattern, CBS won the night overall, while ABC eked out a slim win among younger viewers.

In the 18-49 demo, ABC averaged a 3.5 rating, nipping the 3.2 rating for CBS. NBC’s 2.5 rating and the 2.5 rating for FOX followed closely. The CW had a 1.3 rating for fifth.

Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 12.45 million viewers to go with a 7.8 rating/13 share. ABC was a close second with a 7.0/11, followed by FOX’s 4.9/8 and the 3.9/6 for NBC. The CW’s 1.9/3 trailed.

CBS started the night in first with a 7.1/12 for “Survivor Tocantins.” FOX was second with a 5.5/9 for “Bones,” beating the 4.7/8 for the return of “Ugly Betty” to ABC. NBC’s “My Name Is Earl” and “Parks & Recreation” were fourth, beating the 2.0/3 for The CW’s “Smallville.”

“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” had a 9.6/15 in the 9 p.m. hour, edging out the 9.4/15 for ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” No surprise, but “Grey’s Anatomy” easily won the hour in the 18-49 demo. FOX grabbed third with “Hell’s Kitchen,” which barely beat the 4.0/6 averaged by NBC’s “The Office” and “30 Rock.” The CW’s”Supernatural” had a 1.8/3 for fifth.

At 10 p.m. ABC’s “Private Practice” season finale had a 6.8/12, a smidge in front of CBS’ “Criminal Minds” repeat. On NBC, “Southland” took its second consecutive dramatic fall, dropping to a 4.3/7, in third.
