Watch: Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne find love in ‘Adam’

One of the Sundance Film Festival’s underdog surprise stories this year was the romantic drama “Adam” which came from nowhere to score distribution from indie king Fox Searchlight.

Centered on a young man who has Asperger’s Syndrome (Hugh Dancy), the story finds our hero desperately alone after the death of his father.  Looking for a connection, he finds it in Beth (Rose Byrne of “Damages”) his new neighbor who becomes enamored with Adam’s naiveté and straightforward outlook on the world.  The picture isn’t as predictable as you might think, but certainly has its charms for the right audience.

Speaking to both Dancy and Byrne a few weeks ago before they began a nationwide publicity tour, both actors were excited that their little indie (with a miniscule budget) was getting the four-star treatment from  Searchlight.

For an added bonus, check out a special sit down with Hugh Dancy and the film’s director, Max Mayer, discussing the origins of the project.

“Adam” is now playing in New York and Los Angeles. It opens in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington, D.C. on Aug. 7.
