Jason Castro goes “Pictures of You” in his video for “Let’s Fall in Love Again,” the first single from his forthcoming Atlantic debut.
The as-yet-untitled effort will hit shelves early next year, according to his label, even though they had previously expressed that they had hoped it’d be released this fall.
Still, this is a good start: “Let’s Fall in Love Again” stays in your head and actually makes you like the guy, even if you didn’t before. Like me.
Previously, I thought that Castro got a free pass on the show due to his Dreamy Boy qualities: the dimples, the dreads, the blue blue blue eyes, the guitar and his Midwestern salt-of-the-earth thing. He made “Hallelujah” popular again, though that song hits the heart on its own merit without much need or help from Castro. It was annoying. We wanted to make him work harder.
But then there’s this track, his first real single since “White Christmas” last year. “Let’s Fall in Love Again” sweetly sticks in your head like taffy to teeth, and the video is endearing enough. It will also lead ladies in droves to Googling “jason castro girlfriend” in furies. Here, we did it for you. No clue if that’s his lady love in the clip, but it helps make for good clean entertainment.
And then there’s the Token Square in the video. We feel unexplainably bad for him.
Castro has just kicked off his tour with his new band and will be on the road through mid-November.
