Watch: Jason Segel talks about his long-in-the-works ‘Muppets’ reboot

HitFix caught up with “The Muppets” star Jason Segel at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim last week, and the actor discussed resurrecting the franchise for the upcoming film, his favorite Muppet and his formidable dancing prowess.

Segel co-wrote “The Muppets,” which includes big, old-fashioned musical numbers and classic Muppets jams, with his “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” collaborator Nicholas Stoller. The film also stars Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones, and promises to have celebrity cameos galore. And, of course, the Muppets themselves co-star, some of whom made Segel cry.

From the clip, it’s easy to see how much the amiable Segel (who also stars on “How I Met Your Mother”) loves Jim Henson’s creations, and hopefully that reverence will translate into one of the best Muppet movies yet.

The soundtrack will feature such popular bands as Weezer, OK Go, Andrew Bird and Amy Lee of Evanescene covering Muppets songs. Listen here.

“The Muppets” opens nationwide November 23.
