Tom Hiddleston is about to have a busy next couple of years.
The 29-year-old British actor is set to go as Loki in Kenneth Branagh-directed “Thor” and Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers,” is currently filming “Midnight in Paris” with Woody Allen and is on tap for Steven Spielberg’s future feature “War Horse.”
But at Comic-Con, he was focusing in on Loki, describing the comic book villain as a man plagued by “cancerous rage” psychologically damaged and utterly alone — the perfect “son of a gun” with the will to destroy Thor and the world around him.
Hiddleston also told HitFix the differences between the directed powers of Shakespearean vet Branagh and comedic mastermind Allen.
“Ken is more like a benign field marshal who”s inspiring and leading an army,” Hiddleston says. Allen, on the other hand, is an “inspired harlequin. He’s just likes to create chaos. He’s a bit more like Loki in the way he directs.”
