Set your Tivos now: Whitney Houston will appear on the 24th season opener of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Sept. 14. Houston will be promoting her new album, “I Look To You,” out Aug. 31.
The hype machine is already in overdrive… as it has been for months surrounding Houston. Winfrey is calling Houston’s appearance “the most anticipated music interview of the decade.” For crying out loud.
This is also supposedly Houston’s first interview in seven years, which would make sense since it’s her first new studio album in that long, but we could swear it wasn’t that long ago. Here’s the good thing: Winfrey pretends to be nice, but you know she’s totally going there about the drug use and ex-hubby Bobby Brown.
Rumors are flying that Houston will also appear on “Good Morning America” on Sept. 2, but not surprisingly, that performance will be taped. We don’t care how much Ms. Houston wants her comeback, she’s not getting up and singing for anybody that early in the morning.
