Some early discursive thoughts on Super Bowl XLIV:
This is the first time since 1993 that two no. 1 seeds will meet in the Super Bowl. It’s also the first time ever that two dome teams meet in the Super Bowl. It’s also the 44th consecutive year historical stats have no bearing on the game.
The Detroit Lions are now the last NFC team to not have made it to the Super Bowl. But they’ve still won as many as the Vikings.
The Saints can’t cover tight ends for sh*t. This might be a problem against Dallas Clark. They also might not be able to count on four turnovers. Conversely, the Colts haven’t played a team with a halfway decent offense since November.
So sayeth Punte and Ufford: “Jim Caldwell is the next Barry Switzer.” So Jim Irsay is sleeping with his wife?
Finally, everyone outside the Land of Sh*t will root against the Colts. Any holdouts will be quickly converted by the Peyton vs. His Dad’s Team storyline. Or once the Fat Humps hit South Beach.
I’ll be in Miami for hype week. So unless another KSKer feels like talking the reins, this means no live blog for the big game. But we still have two weeks of celebrity guest predictions to come. Stay tuned.
