For a second round pick and change. Together with Willie Parker, the Skins are now officially a contender to reach the 2004 Super Bowl.
Thank God unrealistic expectations have arrived back in DC.
good job finding a picture of McNabb where he looks like ?uestlove .
/impossible to hate trade now
Together with Willie Parker, the Skins are now officially a contender to reach the 2004 Super Bowl.
/tries not to swallow cyanide
//grabs pitchfork and torch and heads to Andy Reid’s house
Offseason Champs! [is.gd] I’m still not sure how this is going to work for Skins fans. They’ve been booing their QB for years and now they have to call for him to replace McNabb?
Now the Nationals season opener will be relegated to page C14 of the sports pages from it’s customary spot on C4.
MAKING MY FIRST EVER POST ON KSK TO SAY DONOVAN MCNABB YOU FUCKING SUCK AT LIFE DON’T COME TO MY TOWN, AND ALSO, DIE
Clearly Dan Snyder has a hot tub time machine that we don’t know about.
When building to win in the present and future don’t work, build to win in the past instead.
But will McNabb be doing the Eastern Motors ads?
Does this mean that they’re going to unretire Shuler’s number? I don’t think I’m ok with this.
Philly GM Howie Roseman was just informed that the Redskins are a divisional rival. His response: “I thought it was Dallas, Giants and Dallas.”
It truly is a great trade when both fan bases end up freaking out…
Absolutely stunned. This has to be the absolute worst thing the Eagles could have done. Not only did they get no value, not only did they not get a CB to replace Sheldon Brown who walked for money, they traded him to a fucking division rival. Unreal.
Good thing Washington had such a solid line, otherwise I’d think trading for a 34-year old QB with a history of injuries was a bad call.
And Andy Reid, fuck you, you fat dick.
The best part will be when Snyder still drafts Clausen, so he can have a shitty QB of the present, shitty QB of the past, and shitty QB of the future too.
This can only end well for all teams involved.
Gotta love Iggles fans. Every blog or report I see on this trade has them ready to commit mass suicide.
Meanwhile, these were the same mouth-breathing dolts who have been screaming to run McNabb out of town after last year’s playoff debacle (and the year before that and the year before that).
The REAL victim here is poor Jimmy Clausen. He could’ve been the toast of the nation’s capital where at least they have a fanbase that cares about their team. Now he’s going to get consigned to the hell that is either the Buffalo Bills or the LA, er, Jacksonville Jags.
as an eagles fan, i knew he would be traded… but to A FUCKING DIVISION RIVAL?!?! if this doesn’t prove the f.o. has been huffing spray paint out of used socks for the last couple of years i duno what will.
The real question is, where does Colt Brennan fit in in all of this?
Let the cutting in Philly begin!!
Donovan McNabb, Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman, Colt Brennan, Richard Bartel. If that’s not pissing excellence I’m not sure what is.
Now Eagles fans have a different quarterback to hate on for no reason.
this is ridiculous.
Poor skins, I dont see how this was a bad trade for the eagles, did anyone think the eagles were going to re sign him? or does anyone think the redskins are going to go to the play offs? the eagles werent going into the season with 3 QBs with 1 year contracts. The eagles got 11 picks now, you think there done trading? I dont understand, with McNabb its like groundhog day every year in philly, its time for a change.
No one is saying Kolb is better with McNabb, but Kolb is a better fit for the WCO than McNabb.
I’d also like to retroactively thank Mr. Roseman, Mr. Lurie, et. al. for giving their linebackers coach, Steve Spagnuolo, to a division rival in 2007. Spagnuolo was invaluable in the Giants’ 2007-2008 Super Bowl run.
The Eagles: if we don’t want people with skills, why not give them to a team we have to play twice a year?
no sweat off my back
Wow, there must really have been no other suitors for the Iggles to give up and trade McNabb to the Racial Slurs. I believe Peezy has a word for that. That word is DISRESPECT.
Too bad McNabb got traded to ANOTHER team with shitty offensive weapons just as he was starting to get some good receivers. It’s going to be tough work shoving his foot up the Eagles’ asses for the two games he’ll be circling on the schedule, but lawd knows he’s going to try.
To be fair Philly got an iPad out of the deal.
Larry Johnson, McNabb, Clinton Portis & Chris Cooley, what are the odds that they all skip an entire game because they “forgot about it” but really just got too drunk at a friends’ bbq beforehand?
I just wish I had picked up Kolb in my keeper league, since I was out of the playoffs anyway.
Snyder comes back to Earth and reclaims his prize as owner of the offseason with another dipshit buy high on veteran and sell low on future picks.
As joe wade said, I knew he’d be traded soon, but to the fucking Redskins? I like the compensation but eat a dick Eagles.
Now I won’t even be able to root for the motherfucker since he’s in the division. I’ll have to actively root against him. That hurts, I love McNabb. I’m scared to see the Kolb era begin; it’ll either be glorious or a complete disaster.
I like how the timing of this move, a Sunday fucking night, was done only to steal the Phillies headlines from opening day tomorrow. Typical Eagles management.
If I’m remembering correctly, the Eagles also traded a pick to the Cowboys that allowed them to draft Anthony Spencer a few years back. So, yeah.
eagles fan: wow the eagles can blow me.
well, that pretty much locks dallas in as the owner of the nfc east for this decade. thanks philly.
I’m laughing my ass off, much though I feel sorry for McNabb. Can both teams blow a trade?
The Tejas gangbangers in Dallas are loving this shit.
But what does this mean for Douchebag Clausen!!!?!1!1!!!?!
@ Cyanide Concrete: couldn’t of put it better myself.
You ever get the idea that, as a child Dan Snyder was horribly humiliated (perhaps sexually) by a Redskins fan, so little Danny swore an oath of vengenance that involved becoming super rich, buying the Redskins, and then turning them into the shittiest team in the NFL?
Well something has made him seriously hate the Redskins.
maybe rex grossman can show mcnabb how to unwind some more
As a Philly fan in DC, it’s like he’ll never have left!
Devin Thomas better start learning how to catch McNabb’s passes with his feet
Turning a 34 yr old QB with injury history into the #37 pick in a loaded draft (and a 3 or 4 next year) is stupid how? They think Kolb can play – remains to be seen – and a decent backup if he can’t. Makes little to no sense for Washington but I wouldn’t kill the Eagles for this one. As a Cowboys fan I’m happy because this definitely throws a big old ? into Philly’s offense but at least Philly got value.
Also – the trade allows McNabb to keep competing for “Biggest Forehead in NFC East History” with Emmitt Smith as his hairline keeps receding.
@Billiam Foushdow We got Kolb out of that deal, too. Both deals are good ones. Can’t turn down an opportunity to improve the team, just because the trade is with a division rival.
Kolb = Hoying and Vick = Peete as far as I can see we’ll be mediocre to awful until we get another first round draft pick we can not appreciate.
@Michael Irvin’s Seniority – maybe this is a real life Major League, except with football.
“Oh this is just CLASSIC mother”
-Vinny “Archer” Cerrato
/Too early to start clamoring for a “Lofty Trade” t-shirt?
This is a banner day for racism in Philadelphia.
But c’mon Drew. Willie Parker was still a nobody backup in ’04. This would have make the ‘Skins a contender for the ’05 Super Bowl. FIX YO HYPOTHETICAL REDSKINS SUPER BOWL RUN JOKES!
Good. Now only Dallas stands in the way of the Giants. Although our defense still doesn’t stand in the way of anyone.
//Obligatory McNabb “I didn’t know I could be traded, I didn’t know that was in the rule book” joke
I hope there will be some Sex Cannon taking McNabb to some clubs or them having a night out in DC posts that come from this.
As a Redskins fan, I now know how Drew felt last season. You know, minus the part about going to the playoffs. Ugh.
As a ‘Skins fan, well McNabb is better than any of our current options, that high a pick, really? They’ll be plenty of decent linemen still around when our second round pick comes up, and we can use plenty of new linemen.
I’d have prefered another rebuilding year, work on fixing the line and then played in the Ryan Mallet lottery next year.
happy happy day!!!
Way to kill one bird and Indian with one stone.
GET YAH POPCONE REDAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
Excellent debut post, JBlades.
Knowing the Skins the sex cannon will be the QB and McNabb will be the 4th RB.
@85 Ron Washington does make a very nice line.
Excellent debut, JBlades. Lofty debut.
wow. that is a certified Crazy Man Afro.
Brilliant Idea! No holds barred cage match.
Crazy Afro Donovan vs. Epic Beard Man
Are the Jews done with Passover yet? Do Snyder and Maj know this has happened? We must break into the Seder to let them know.
Also JBLADES – I LIKE THE CUT OF YOUR JIB!
The best part about this whole thing is John Clayton’s article on ESPN proclaiming the Skins co-favorites (way to go out on a limb) with Dallas to win the division. Really? The same Redskins that went 4-12 last year, with three of those wins coming against Oakland, StL, and Tampa (ie. they don’t count)? The same Redskins that lost to the Lions and Chiefs last season? Adding a 34 year old, past his prime, injury prone QB suddenly makes this flaming shitpile a contender? Get fucked!
It almost makes me wish Salisbury was still around, just so he could give this fucking nerd a swirly in one of the Bristol toilets. Almost…
This won’t even make it to MMQB which means it won’t be in BDD’s breakdown of MMQB. OFMGISYM. (oh my freakin goodness I said hi to your mother.)
what’s a jib?
Booooooooooooo! I’d rather have Ricky Williams! BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
“fuck me in the ass.” -my lifelong skins fan father’s response to this news. yup, me too pops.
You misspelled “beige” in the tag for the article.
Care more about the Caps.
Shitty Redskins Offense — Now with Bounce-Passes!
Gonna love watching the crippling sorrow of DC next season when this goes to shit.
Well, at least it’s not Favre.
I’m fine with this move as long as it doesn’t mean the Chiefs wind up taking Clausen.
Nah, Snyder has him penciled in for a spring 2013 trade.
In DC, they let black QBs be black QBs, with none of that bitching about the not running around.
We have Purple Jesus, and other great names here. I will be the first to propose we call McNabb, Chunnel. This is based on Kramer yelling Hey McNabb, Chunnel’s on HBO tonite, to the fat cable guy.
also, as a DC area resident who hates the Skins….bwahahaha
Fat Andy is officially out of excuses (and quite possibly, chocolate and jelly beans, after yesterday’s holiday).
I do admit to enjoying the backpedaling of just about every Redskin fan I know in their assessment of McNabb.
Awesome, with all of the other sports going on I cannot listen to DC radio for the next two weeks as all I will hear about is the skins superbowl run. Thanks Dan.
I was born a Skins fan, I was raised a Skins fan, and dad-gummit, I’ll die a Skins fan. Don’t these people know how much hate I have invested in my McNabb relationship? I’ve been cataloging #5’s flaws for so long, they are all I can remember about him.
This is not a disaster – Snyder et al will fuck this up somehow. With McNabb at 34 years old and his contract set to expire in a year Reid had two choices: 1) get more offensive weapons to fit McNabb’s style, FAST, or 2) get someone young and promising at the helm to fit in the WCO Reid loves more than deep-fried oreo stuffing souflee (which is saying something).
I’m as surprised by Andy’s choice as I am to learn Reid vacations in Northern Canada so he can club baby seals and make wine from their tears.
Thanks for all the hard work, Donovan. Don’t listen to the dipshit haters – most Eagles fans are sad to see you go.
As reported at sfgate.com:
When the Raiders “sniffed around and showed willingness to trade for the quarterback without an extension, McNabb indicated to the Eagles through his associates that he’d retire.”
I have to give Donovan credit – he knows better than get involved with that train wreck.
In all honesty though, now when the fuck do I draft DeSean Jackson in my fantasy draft?
Not sure I seë where the Skins are so much better than the Raiders. McNabb definitely slapped his forehead and wished he blacklisted more teams than just Al Davis’ Undead.
As for Donovan….bwahahahahaha.
The Eagles will be fine, they have a stable of picks and they always come up with a decent squad, at least over the least 10 yrs. They won’t win the SB or anything, but we knew that already.
It’s still Boys/Eagles/Jints in the beast, though that will change if the Giants decide to put a couple of actual NFL-caliber linebackers on their roster.
You know it’s a good trade when both fanbases involved are screaming bloody murder.
Hey Eagles and Redskins fans?
You just got kicked in the nuts.
Monkey Business out.
At least this proves the Raiders are a little smarter than the Buccaneers…when Jake Plummer said he’d rather retire than play for Tampa, the Bucs traded for him anyway.
And then they sued Plummer (successfully) for the bonus the Broncos had given him, because the Glasers only have a few billion in the bank and needed that money so badly.
@porky1 – Love the Plummer flashback. As a Broncos’ fan, a Plummer fan, and a Cuntler hater, I was pretty impressed by Jake’s basic indifference to the money on some level (damn. how many O.Z.’s did that cost him?) and his ability to just say fuck it, I’ll just retire over playing somewhere I don’t want to at this point.
Priorities much higher on his list apparently were harvesting beards and playing handball in Idaho.
Perhaps Mr. Snyder, in his attempt to build the Team of the (last) Decade, can go even further back, and sign Franco Harris, YA Tittle, Bronko Nagurski, and a young Dwight David Eisenhower.
@Leigh: Spagnuolo was invaluable in the Giants’ 2007-2008 Super Bowl run.
Actually, he was the reason for the Super Bowl run. Look at what the Giants D didn’t accomplish last year with basically the same personnel.
Winning a Super Bowl So simple, even a caveman can do it!
AAAAANNNNNNDDDDD COMMMMMIIIINNNNGGG SOOONNN to a website near you…….T.O. signs multiyear contract with the foreskins to reunite with his soulmate Donovan McNabb! Elsewhere on the news: Mass suicides reported in the north eastern region of the United States! Details at ten!
