Even though Joe Vitt, Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton had all been granted suspension dispensation from The Rog to attend tonight’s game in the Superdome, it’s only Payton who will interrupt his task of wandering the Earth to be on hand for this evening’s game.
To be perfectly honest, I didn’t even know Johnny U’s consecutive games with a touchdown pass streak was even supposed to be a big deal until a few weeks ago. I suspect this is the same for most people. But the NFL needs a manufactured storyline to market a prime time game between a winless team and an opponent that few When Brees broke Marino’s yardage mark last year, that was worth the hoopla. In today’s game, a consecutive games with a touchdown mark has more to do with staying healthy than being a being an extraordinarily talented quarterback, even if Brees happens to be one. Then again, most QBs will be surpassing Marino’s former mark on a near yearly basis, so I suppose I’m splitting hairs. Plus, there’s this:
