Peter King’s HollyWEIRD movie that is the 2012 Indianapolis Colts goes ONE, TWO, THREE CHUCKing into Jacksonville. Sounds like a pretty likely win for Indy and a pretty painful night of viewing for the rest of us, though I suppose the Jags are owed some small sliver of a chance on account of road teams having a tough go of it for the most part on Thursday nights. That and the possibility of a letdown after the Colts got a huge emotional win on Sunday over the Dolphins.
Now that Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning finished Week 9 with the same amount of passing yards, with their teams tied in the standings, the two are going to be stacked against one another that much more often the rest of the season. I don’t see a truly favorable outcome not involving injury that would help us avoid noxious fluffing. I suppose it’s better if Peyton does better the rest of the way this season, since that what would have been expected at the outset of the year. Luck having the better season would just seal his place as the Uber-Precocious-est Movie Architect-Quarterback in the all-time annals of Historyville. I could do without that, thanks.
As for the Jaguars, they are still without Maurice Jones-Drew, which is about all you need to know. After MJD went down, fantasy owners scrambled to grab Rashad Jennings off the wire. In his first two starts, Jennings averaged more than 100 total yards. Last week, however, he had only 52 yards in the loss to Detroit. He’s only posting 3.1 yards per carry over the course of the season, so the MJD absence has been about as keenly felt as you’d imagine. After Sunday’s loss, owner Shahid Khan described his team’s 1-7 start as “sad and embarrassing“, though I think “about what we all expected” is a touch more accurate.
