It was known not long after his four-game suspension was announced that Seahawks corner Richard Sherman would be appealing the punishment handed down by the league for testing positive for Adderall. All that remained was what tack Sherman would use to explain away the positive test. Now, one day later, a possible explanation has emerged and it is hilarious.
The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because neither Sherman nor his agent have discussed the details of the case publicly, said Sherman says he accidentally drank from a bottle into which a teammate poured a crushed Adderall pill. The person said the teammate is permitted to take the drug under NFL rules because he has a prescription.
Ah, the ol’ Adderall Mickey Finn. Gets ’em every time. For what it’s worth, Sherman and his agent are already denying USA Today’s report. We’re hoping it’s true for the sake of comedy.
If it has to be false, let the true version of the positive test be that Tom Brady tricked him into taking it. Brady owes him a good trolling after what Sherman pulled when Seattle beat New England in October.
