For those of you getting all pumped for Sunday’s big tilt featuring the 1-3 Oakland Raiders versus the 2-2 San Diego Chargers, load up on Red Bull. The Oakland A’s, a team that apparently plays a sport called “base ball,” shares the O.co Coliseum with the Raiders, who are due to host the Chargers at 1:25 p.m. local time on Sunday. But these A’s have a playoff game in their alleged sport on Saturday night. Thus, the NFL has pushed back the Raiders-Chargers kickoff until 8:30 p.m. local time to give the grounds crew enough time to convert the field back to its football state as God intended. The late kickoff for the game, which will air on NFL Network, also keeps it from conflicting with NBC’s Sunday Night game (Texans-Niners). Along with the Orioles knocking the Ravens out of Baltimore for the season opener, it marks a distressing trend of football caving to inferior sports.
So, for you East Coasters, that’s an 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 CT kickoff which, holy hell, is really, really late.
The plus side? Holy sh*t, 13 straight hours of football.
