There’s something to be said about the power of directness when calling out things as offensive, but this editorial cartoon about the Redskins’ name and logo in today’s New York Daily News might be going a leeeettle bit too far. Godwin’s Law exists for a reason, people.
Not only that, isn’t this just a way of accusing the paper’s own sports department of propagating hate imagery? or at least insensitivity? Surely the ‘Skins logo has appeared not infrequently in that section over the years and without being flagged as being on par with a swastika or the Confederate flag.
