In the second half of the Patriots’ victory over the Broncos on Sunday, a curious audible call was heard coming from Tom Brady as the Pats were driving for a score to get within a field goal of Denver.
In fact, “Cougar! Cougar! Linda!” was the play he called right before throwing a touchdown strike to Rob Gronkowski to bring the Pats back from the dead and within 3 points of Wes Welker & Co.
Linda, in this case, is assumed to be Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Linda Holliday. Brady was on sports talk radio in Boston on Monday and was asked about the audible call. To that, he gave a rote answer about the team having all sorts of line calls and they have to cycle through all of them in the course of a game.
The cougar herself, however, is getting a kick out of it.
“Well, since it was obviously a good call and a well-executed play, I’ll take a tiny bit of credit — but only for a well-named play,” Linda told the Track.
Nonsense. You can also take credit for keeping Belichick’s malevolence in check. There’s only guessing how evil he would be if he also weren’t getting any.
