The seventh team to overcome a 28-point deficit in the playoffs but only the third to win. The first since the immortal Bills comeback in the ’93 playoffs. The Chiefs looked primed to win their first playoff game in 20 years, the same as that Bills comeback, but brutal injuries to Jamaal Charles, Donnie Avery and Brandon Flowers, among others, did them in. Flowers may have been the most costly of all, as it completely exposed the Kansas City secondary.
Certainly Andy Reid didn’t help by exhausting all the Chiefs’ timeouts by two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, including a final timeout just to make sure they had the right play before Alex Smith led Dwayne Bowe too far to the sideline.
