Like Moose (I believe), I am a Manning apologist (and proud Fat Hump). That said, I think Denver is going to beat, though maybe not destroy, San Diego next week. I also think Peyton will drop a significant number of points on SD’s collective face.
/readies for the inevitable 33-10 Chargers win with 4 Manning picks
This Bronco fan, along with most other honest ones, is fucking terrified. They really kicked our ass in Denver, and even the win in San Diego was a grinding, ugly affair. Mike McCoy is a really sharp dude.
The broncos looked worse in the at Denver game – it was the worst I’ve seen them look all year, and I do tend to watch denver if I can – whatever else he is, and as much as I loath Denver, Peyton tends to make games entertaining to watch.
I’m a bit nervous too; the defense is unpredictable, but can be shitty, PeyPey always tightens up in playoff games, and watching the Chiefs lose starter after starter. The other thing is it will be hard to surprise SD. On the plus side a week to heal several injuries, having the full offense healthy, a week for some wrinkles and two weeks of travel for SD.
Yeah, and not to make excuses, but the loss to SD was on a Thursday night, and Denver’s offense was flatter and sloppier than they have been all season. But still, the D was iffy WITH Von Miller, so without him…
I got a bit bored, and wanted to extend the high before they crash and burn next Sunday – so I dug up the 2013 Prekkake – really fun read by kommentator Low Commander of the Super Soldiers (well, for a charger fan it was, as it was spot on, Lost analogy and all – it’s here: [kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com] )
Anyway, one thing really struck me, as LCOTSS absolutely nailed it:
“All-in-all, I think the best case scenario for this team has them going 9-7 and praying to Jebus that a Wild Card spot is available there”
I doubt any but the most mouth breathing members of our fandom actually expected a spot. And to win? even against the Bengals? nope. not even close. I know what the media narrative this coming week is going to be – house money, no pressure, most dangerous team in playoff, resurgence of lazerface, Peyton’s choke jobs in the playoffs, his record against the bolts in the playoffs (because really, he was the only player on the colts, right?) etc –
It’s all bs – chargers got LUCKY on so many fronts it boggles the mind, and I’ll admit to buying in (using?) a bit of it myself. And I’m enjoying the run, just like I enjoyed today’s gingerpocolypse.
But … it will end badly. No way bolts beat Denver, in Denver, twice – and a part of me would actually prefer a loss to fetushead than crashing out the following week (which we would), when we would likely be responsible for sending dreamboat back to the SB.
