Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has recently begun lobbying the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell to change the name of the Washington Redskins as he finds the nickname to be bigoted and racist, even going so far as to challenge Goodell’s strength in the wake of NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s banishment of Donald Sterling over recordings in which the Clippers owner used racist language. Today Senator Reid injected himself into the #AskCommish discussion on Twitter as Goodell answered questions from fans.
Commissioner Goodell, do you believe you have the authority to act against racism in the NFL like Mr. Silver did in the NBA? #AskCommish

One cannot imagine Goodell enjoys hearing that his absolute power is being questioned by anyone, let alone a lowly elected official. In fact, Lord Rog completely ducked the question from Senator Reid:

But don’t worry, Rog. The Placekicker Lobby has your back in this one.

Now Goodell has two problems; dealing with the embarrassment that he is impotent to battle racism as the commissioner and that placekickers are real people too shouldn’t be discriminated against in the NFL hierarchy.
