Andy Reid Now Might Be The Chiefs’ New Hombre, While Boss Todd Could Be Back In Arizona

For a while, it seemed like Andy Reid would be going to the Chargers, but as soon as Reid finally got fired by the Eagles, that was no longer a thing. Then Reid seemed destined for Arizona, a disappointing destination for a host of reasons, but now that might have fallen through before Reid ever got the chance to actually interview with the Cardinals.

Now it appears that Andy Reid is close to becoming the next coach of the Chiefs. Not sure that’s a great look for Kansas City. When you replace a black walrus with a white walrus, people are gonna ask questions. That said, it’s a slightly better landing spot for Reid than Arizona, at least as far as hilarity is concerned. At least Kansas City has a fan base that takes its losing with a little more anguish than the folks in Arizona. Anyway, nothing is confirmed yet, and Chris Mortensen is involved with reporting it, so take it with an Andy Reid-sized grain of salt until Jay Glazer weighs in.

As for Kansas City fans, this isn’t the worst hire their team could have, and anything above the worst-case scenario has to be embraced. Also, La Canfora is reporting that if Reid is the new coach, Scott Pioli is out as GM, and that alone has to be counted as a huge victory.

In the meantime, the Cardinals have asked for permission to speak with Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Oh yeah – BOSS TODD BACK IN THE DESERT! JOY RIDES IN THE SAND! It was in Arizona that Haley gained national renown for being the offensive coordinator who told Kurt Warner to throw to Larry Fitzgerald when the Cardinals made the Super Bowl in 2008. He was also fond of getting in shouting matches with Anquan Boldin on the sidelines. That could just be a ploy to pressure Andy Reid into still giving them a shot. Think it’s fair to say Worst Ploy Ever.
