Draft Season Has Gotten So Bad, Sites Are Publishing Rumors Jim Nantz Has Heard

The extended period before the draft this year coupled with a lack of consensus over who should be the top pick has made this the worst year of draft bullshit ever. Case in point: publications are just printing rumors that Jim Nantz heard and doesn’t ever sound like he totally believes.

“I’ve heard this rumor for a month — the Cowboys will figure out a way to get Manziel,” Nantz told ESPNCleveland.com. “Wherever Manziel goes, there is going to be more clamoring about Johnny Manziel than there would be about Blake Bortles going No. 1 or (Jadeveon) Clowney going No. 1, or anyone else. This is a guy that there’s just a tremendous interest in everything he does.”

Jim Nantz is a rich white guy who hobnobs with other rich white guys, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility for him to be privy to some inside info, but even in this case he’s acknowledging it’s just a rumor. But it’s draft silly season so even that qualifies as news.

That said, Manziel with the Cowboys would be hilarious and perfect on a multitude of levels so I’m gonna go ahead and root for this to be true.
