About an hour and a half prior to kickoff of Sunday’s game, Carolina deactivated defensive end Greg Hardy for their game against the Lions. The Panthers received a lot of criticism for playing Hardy in Week 1 against the Giants even though he was found guilty of domestic assault back in July and that isn’t likely to change. It’s a welcome about-face by the Panthers, though one that will looked at as a move that was simply bowing to public pressure. It will be interesting to see if this decision has any impact on the 49ers’ decision to play Ray McDonald this evening.
Hardy is still going to be paid for today, for what it’s worth.
