The Raiders are switching from a zone to power blocking scheme this coming season, which gave left tackle Jared Veldheer a reason to get ridiculously swole, to the point that he barely resembles an actual person. Apparently it took the first three years of his career to add nine pounds to the 312 he was listed at when he was drafted. In the last few months alone, he’s packed on four pounds of muscle.
Last year, it was LaRon Landry who got himself to ungodly levels of ripped in the hopes of reviving his career. Though that doesn’t seem to make much sense for a safety, Landry actually had himself a respectable season and got a multi-year contract with the Colts out of it. We’ll see if Veldheer has as much success as last year’s Off-Season Workout Champion.
