In the wake of the Saints’ 49-17 throttling the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, Jerry Jones was forced to admit, in most diplomatic fashion, that Dallas looks bad for cutting ties with former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
“We had our reasons for making our change and Sean [Payton] did a good job of getting Rob down here,” Jones said. “He’s as smart as he can be. He’s from an outstanding football bloodline. That’s why we hired him two years ago with the Cowboys is because he’s that good of a football coach.
“We thought that it was best for us to go in the direction that we are and that doesn’t look good right now. Hopefully we can make it look good.”
Not only did New Orleans drop 49 points on Dallas but they set an NFL record with 40 first downs. Perhaps already time to put Monte Kiffin out to pasture? In fairness, the loss of Sean Lee was a costly one, and Rob Ryan knows a little something about the cost of losing Sean Lee to injury – so much, that brother Rex joked last year that Rob broke down into tears when it was first reported that Sean Lee was lost for the season in 2012.
In the meantime, Jerry, there’s always the fake Wolfman from the Superdome crowd last night. Just get him a big sketchy van parked at team headquarters that he can sleep in. No one will tell the difference.
