Browns receiver Josh Gordon has been spending the early part of the off-season getting an elaborate back tattoo, which, in addition to what appears to be a large fish, includes his nameplate and his jersey number.
Gordon wore the number 12 in college at Baylor, though had to go through 86 and 13 during his rookie year with the Browns in 2012. He got to wear 12 again during his breakout 2013 season and apparently never wants to go back.
While Gordon was nearly traded in the fall, he still has two years remaining on his rookie contract with the Browns. It being the Browns, there’s always the possibility that he’ll leave or be driven away at some point in the not too distant future. Worth noting that four teams – Miami, San Francisco, Buffalo and the Jets – have retired the number 12. That doesn’t necessarily preclude him ever playing for them. He’ll just never be able to take his shirt off without ridicule, something a lot of us know a thing or two about.
