Delta Airlines got itself in a bit of trouble on Monday by celebrating the United States’ win over Ghana in the World Cup with a scoreboard image in which the Statue of Liberty represented the U.S. and a picture of a giraffe represented Ghana. Problem is, giraffes don’t reside in Ghana. Oop dee!
You’d figure social media teams that supposedly spend weeks composing tweets would bother to do a little legwork, but I suppose that sort of thinking is why my social media #brand isn’t what it could be. If I’m being honest, though, I also have no idea which countries giraffes live in. Though I might care to check before getting my employer accused of insensitivity and subsequently getting myself fired.
What I do know, however, is where to go to find videos of giraffes getting hunted down by a pack of lions. As far as I’m concerned, all nature lives on the Internet.
