Five more depressing ways you could spend a $1 billion besides buying the Bills

— Change the money into gold bars and bludgeon yourself with it.

— Found an organization that promotes cancer. Not cancer awareness. It’s just pro-cancer.

— Buy a billion-dollar house but in Buffalo.

— Give it to local police departments for the express purpose of more tanks and shit.

— Donate it anonymously to journalism schools across the country, enclosed with a note that reads, “but really, it’s from Peter King.”

Fan forecast by Upstate Underdog:

To quote the song by Split Enz, “history never repeats, I tell myself before I go to sleep.” Unfortunately for the Bills, history keeps repeating it-self in the form of losing seasons and not making the play-offs. To call Bills fans long suffering would be an understatement. 1999 was the last season they made the play-offs and that was a play-off game Bills fans prefer not to talk about, Music City Screw Job! Most of the kommenters here weren’t even in high school in 1999. O.K., enough of me bitching about the past 14 seasons, let’s bitch about the upcoming one!

During the off season, the Bills lost their long time owner Ralph Wilson. No one lives forever, except for zombie Al Davis. However, there were bigger loses. Jairus Byrd left for New Orleans and Kiko Alonso was lost for the season thanks to a torn ACL. Stevie Johnson won’t be back and Bills fans thank God not blame him for that. Defensive Coordinator leaving to take the head coach job in Cleveland also hurts. Former Lions head coach Jim Schwartz replaces Pettine as the defensive coordinator. Sure he was terrible head coach in Detroit, but he had some decent defenses as defensive coordinator for the Titans.

On offense, E.J. Manuel remains a huge question mark. Last season he showed signs of being a good quarterback, but most Bills fans are nervous he isn’t durable to last an entire season. At running back, CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson are back to create fantasy football headaches. Hopefully Spiller rebounds to his 2012 self and Jackson remains productive. Jackson is 33 years old. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown are also in camp for the Bills. I doubt all four of those RBs will be on the opening day roster.

At wide receiver, obviously Sammy Watkins is the one everyone will be watching. Buffalo traded the 9th overall pick and their 2015 1st and 4th round pick to Cleveland to move up and pick him #4 overall. This better pay-off for the Bills, along with picking Manuel so early, or head coach Doug Marrone and GM Doug Whaley could be in trouble. The Bills also have potential star Robert Woods and Mike Williams who they got in a trade with Tampa Bay. It is a young group of receivers with Williams being the veteran, 5 years, of the bunch. Like every aspect of the Bills offense, the offensive line needs to play better than last year. The Bills drafted Cyrus Koundjio and Cyril Richardson to address this issue.

On defense, the Bills will switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 base defense. Last season the Bills were one of the better teams in terms of QB sacks and interceptions. However, they were terrible against the run and allowed 24 points per game. There is talent and experience on defense, especially on the defensive line and back field. Again Alonso and Byrd are huge loses for the defense. The Bills did add veteran linebackers Brandon Spikes and Keith Rivers.

Outside of the AFC East, Buffalo plays the NFC North this season, plus SD, HOU, KC, CLE, DEN, and OAK. Like most fans at the start of the season, my heart tells me this is the year they make the play-offs or at the very least go 8-8, then reality sets in and the head takes over to make you it’s not ging to happen. Sadly history will repeat it-self, the Bills will go 6-10, and miss the play-offs. So drink up Bills fans, we have a reputation to uphold. Also, fuck Bon Jovi.
