Marshawn Lynch fined $50,000 for not saying anything

The NFL reportedly fined Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch the equivalent of 42,000 bags worth of Skittles for not speaking to the press this season. The Ginger Hammer is most displeased when his players refuse to say things to the media that he could possibly use to fine them, so he went ahead slapped Lynch with a fine for not getting himself fined, which makes sense.

The League requires players to be available to the media after every game, and at least once a week during practice. Apparently Lynch just kind of took the entire year off of his media obligations, but no one really seemed to care until today. “Well why is he only getting fined now?” you might ask. According to Willow extra Mike Florio, the NFL will only fine a player “when one or more members of the media complain about a player who refuses to talk.”

I’m just going out on a limb here, but it seems to me that the local Seattle media was pretty ok with letting Lynch do his talking on the field during the regular season. But now that they’re in the playoffs, the players are going to be subject to certain national media personalities who might not like being “rebuffed.” Certain national media personalities who might have a red courtesy phone that rings directly to the league office. Certain types that might hold petty grudges for not replying to his emails, telegrams, and voice mails…
