You might have wondered if things could possibly get derpier for the Vikings after their listless performance on Monday night against the Giants. Whatever you imagined surely featured Christian Ponder in some way. And so your dreams of Minnesota failure comedy will be realized with the return of Ponderp.
Josh Freeman suffered a concussion at some point in the Vikings’ loss to the Giants, even though he played in the entire game. While suspicious, the comments from Rodney Harrison that Freeman is faking the concussion is high level trolling even an NBC analyst. Because players never lie about concussions during games to stay in, nor do teams compell players with concussions to return to action.
Either way, it’s a return to the scene of Ponder’s one competent performance of his career: Week 17 of 2012, when Minnesota played put together their best possible effort and just barely defeated Green Bay. All to earn the right to lose to them the following week in Lambeau.
Since starting the season 1-2, the Packers have reeled off three straight wins since their bye. Green Bay also gets Casey Hayward active for first time this season. That’s nice. No time to catch up on his 2012 interception stats like a game against Ponder.
