Saved from being the worst only by the Redskins and their campaign to harass senators into accepting racism, the Ravens social media team has in recent weeks put on quite a show of awfulness. A few weeks back, the Ravens’ Twitter account made sure to highlight how supposedly contrite Ray Rice’s wife was at a press conference in May addressing the assault charges Rice faced for allegedly knocking her out at an Atlantic City casino.
That may have been the nadir, but Ravens Twitter is still sticking to their commitment to pissing everyone off. In the wake of Colin Kaepernick’s contract extension, the Ravens are pushing a feature on the team website examining whether Kaepernick is considered more overpaid than Joe Flacco.
On one hand, it’s great because the implicit message is the Ravens acknowledging that Flacco is overpaid, just not quite as overpaid as Kaepernick. On the other, unfortunately most of their argument boils down to SCOREBOARD-type things like wins and playoff wins, which is basically just another way of saying that Flacco has been in the league three years longer (and a starter for four more years).
Not to mention that, though the amount of guaranteed money in Kaep’s deal is technically higher, the guarantees themselves are much less solid, as the deal the 49ers struck is described as being incredibly team-friendly.
