If you stuck around after the great Nachoplosion in LP Field, Rex Ryan had himself quite the despondent post-game presser. Not undeservedly so, as the loss ensured the Jets will miss the playoffs for the second year in a row and could have cost Rex his job. In his defense, not sure what any coach could have done with this roster. It is ghastly. Nevertheless, the once boisterous Rex seems like a broken man. That’s the kind of dispiriting effect you see when someone is compelled to rely on Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow. Yeah, you can definitely fault Rex leaving Greg McElroy inactive last night, but are the Jets actually a worthwhile team with McElroy playing? Unlikely.
Nacho just signed a contract extension after last season, so he’s owed quite a bit of money going into the 2013 season. At this point, the Jets might be forced to eat that money just to rid themselves of the white (brown?) elephant that is Mark Sanchez. And then begins the sad contest among a handful of teams to sign Sanchez as a backup.
