On the other hand, the Broncos are the first team to lose five Super Bowls. Your move, Bills.
It’s been a while since there was a curbstomping, one-sided, unwatchable Super Bowl. More than 10 years, in fact. For a while in the late ’80s and the early ’90s, it was the norm, but now it’s back with a vengeance, thanks to the Seahawks absolutely destroying the Broncos from the opening snap, when Denver flung the ball into the end zone for a opening play safety.
The Seahawks were an NFC favorite from this time last year. It’s hard to live up to those kind of expectations but they did it from the start of the season. The Seahawks aren’t a completely likeable team, but it’s hard not to side with Marshawn Lynch (the first touchdown of Super Bowl XLVIII), Derrick Coleman and Richard Sherman, who was a victim of the media, though still kind of a dick.
Still amazing, however, that Russell Wilson is just the second black starting quarterback to win the Super Bowl. Kudos to him.
On the bright side for Denver, Peyton Manning set a Super Bowl record with 34 completions. And Demaryius Thomas set a record with 13 receptions. Lot of good that did.
