Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was earlier this off-season convicted of assaulting a police officer stemming from a bar fight in 2012. He was sentenced in to serve 30 days in jail beginning in March 2014.
Because the assault happened just before the 2012 NFL Draft, in which he was taken by New England in the 7th round, that would make a suspension handed down by the league office problematic. But now Goodell can bring down a Ginger Hammering without compunction as Dennard was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of DUI.
Lincoln police Capt. Jason Stille said officers spotted a westbound Honda straddling the lane line on Normal Boulevard between 50th and 56th Streets about 2 a.m.
Dennard, 24, was alone in the vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, refusing a chemical test and a driving infraction.
