Say Hello To A Real Life Where’s Waldo (If You Can Find Him)

Do you remember Where’s Waldo? The star of your favorite book in the dentist’s office has carved out a marvelous legacy as one of the planet’s leading Waldos alongside Family Matters nitwit Waldo Geraldo Faldo and the terrified dorkus that gets bullied by kid Van Halen in the “Hot For Teacher” video. Now this ’90s nostalgia god is making his mark on Instagram thanks to a red-and-white shirted vagabond with a knack for popping up next to famous sites.

The anonymous East Londoner has racked up close to 10,000 followers with his assorted pics as “Wally.” Why Wally and not Waldo? It turns out the character is called Wally in the U.K. and since this guy is English it all checks out. The illustrator behind Wally/Waldo is also British so that probably means Wally’s the right choice (although Waldo clearly has a better ring to it).

Unlike his illustrated counterpart, Instagram Wally (aka @WallyFound) is f*cking terrible at blending in with a crowd. All the pictures he puts up feature the character in plain sight LIKE AN AMATEUR! Has he been using Odlaw as a consultant?

Look, there he is!

And there!

LOOOOOOOOOOK!

Legend (and the Daily Mail) has it that Wally (pictured above not even standing next to another human being or piece of foliage) has only revealed his identity to close friends and family.

What does he have to say about all this?

I take one photo every day and post it to my Instagram account.

I have travelled around England taking photographs and I fully intend to travel abroad and picture Wally there too.

He is my favourite character from back when I was a child and he means something, not just to me but to people of all ages.

What’s next for Wally? He told the Daily Mail that he plans to start taking photographs where he’s among crowds of people. He’s also looking to get into the calendar game, so maybe your aunt will gift you some additional Wally swag over the holidays, just like when you were 10.

As for his secret identity…

I won’t be revealing my real name, that way it keeps the mystery and the magic.

Here some more Wally pics. See if you can find him!
