Andy Daly Gets Five Stars For Filibustering About Whisky For Over Three Hours

This has been a four-star year of television, with never-better seasons of Game of Thrones, The Americans, Better Call Saul, Orange Is the New Black, and so many others. But it hasn’t been a five-star year: there was no Review. Comedy Central’s bleak-comedy took 2016 off to prepare for its third and final season, which according to creator and star Andy Daly is just about finished. “It’s shot & ready to watch,” he tweeted earlier today. “In fact, we made the final post-production decision of the series yesterday. Momentous! Airdate tbd…” What’s taking so long? Well, Daly’s been busy drinking whisky.

For hours at a time.

Laphroaig Whisky hired the Comedy Bang Bang veteran to read thousands of reviews about the single-malt whisky. According to a press release, “Over the past three years, we have asked fans and foes alike to exercise their right to state their opinion on our scotch, and thousands have done so, from New Hampshire to Florida and everywhere in between. Now it’s time for their voices to be heard and there is one avid fan willing to put it all on the line to ensure every last opinion is submitted into the debate.” That would be Daly, who literally reads off opinion (Laphroaig is a “bowl of vanilla ice cream from inside a forest fire”) after opinion (or a “moldy rock you licked from the fireplace”), while standing the entire time, for three and a half hours.

Daly’s commitment to the bit? Five stars.
