VR Technology Has Finally Given You The Ability To Be Your Own Cat

Aah, to be a cat. Napping during the day, partying-slash-killing things at night. Knocking over glasses of water just because it looks like a fun thing to do.

Maybe the first two options aren’t feasible — you do have to work, after all, and murder isn’t exactly the easiest thing to get away with — but now, thanks to the wonders of virtual reality, knocking over crap without actually doing any damage is totally feasible.

The game is called Catlateral Damage (because, of course). It’s not so much a game as it is a “premier first-person destructive cat simulator” that lets players experience what it’s like to be a cat whose goal it is to knock over as much stuff as possible. “See the world from the perspective of a cat! Walk, look around, jump, crouch, and use your paws as little weapons.”

Nippy the cat is the feline that inspired Catlateral Damage.

Those of you hardcore cat-themed gamers know that Catlateral Damage has been available for on PC and PS4 for some time. Now, though, you can actually get in on the action — you know, really feel like you’re there — through the HTC Vive, a virtual reality system.

The good news is, the game will only cost you $4.99 through the end of the month. A deal! But if you don’t have the HTC Vive yet, expect to pay upwards of $800. Me-OW.

Seriously, though, based on the 30-second promo video for the VR version, the game looks like a bundle of fun. If virtual reality is the future of gaming, it’s definitely worth it to invest five bucks in a pair of little paws to knock stuff over with.
