So far, 2016 is proving to be a very exciting year. In less than three weeks, we’ve all had the chance to become instant billionaires, a new chicken sandwich was introduced at Shake Shack, and there’s a Presidential election right around the corner! It would be selfish to ask for anything more from this year.
But 2016 is more generous than the rest of us and happens to be the year that keeps on giving. Do you know why? Because as of yesterday, Cinnamon Bun Oreos became available AND your favorite cookie company also brought back Red Velvet Oreos! Here’s to finally resolving our woes about what to have for breakfast!
After announcing the new flavor in September, Oreo lovers around the world began dissecting the packaging and speculating about the newest flavor. The packaging is noticeably void of a “Limited Edition” label and weighs a whopping 12.2 oz. (rather than the usual 10.7 oz. limited edition size) which has really got people excited.
The new cookie is the product of a secret place Oreo is calling “The Wonder Vault.” Think Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory run by spunky, Silicon Valley-type cookies, instead of Oompa Loompas.
They’ve concocted a cookie with two cinnamon flavored cookies and one icing inner layer reminiscent of Dunkaroos’ icing. This is both exciting and a little painful as it serves to remind us that Dunkaroos are no longer available.
But we digress…
The new Oreo Cinnamon Bun cookie has been met with some interesting feedback. While some praise the “cinnamon-flavored graham cracker and scraped up hardened-on cinnamon bun frosting that congeals to a Cinnabon box.” Yum! Others criticize the cookie for being “too artificially sweet, like if Teddy Graham and Dunk-a-roos had a baby.” Question: what monster wouldn’t love that baby?
Both the Cinnamon Bun Oreo and the Red Velvet Oreo were made available January 18 and Oreo is expected to release a third mystery flavor in the next few weeks. You can bet we’ll be on the edge of our seats (seats we’re sure to break…because of all the Oreo’s we’ve eaten, you see).
