Does This ‘Internal Leak’ Prove Starbucks And ‘Pokemon Go’ Are Teaming Up For Something Big?

Pokemon Go fever may have cooled slightly over the last few months, but there are still plenty of trainers out there walking around, searching for little monsters to capture, and usually sell for candy because stupid Pidgeys are worthless. And soon they’ll be going to Starbucks, at least if a rumor on Reddit holds true.

Images allegedly taken by baristas have popped up on the site claiming that company-owned Starbucks will, starting tomorrow, be turned into Pokestops and Gyms, complete with a tie-in Frappuccino. Sadly it’s not clear what flavor a Pokemon coffee drink will take, but we assume it will somehow involve running the beans through the digestive system of a Pikachu. Joking aside, rumors of this type have gone around before about McDonalds, but it seems Starbucks will beat the Golden Arches to this promo.

So is it legit? If it is fake, it’s a well-done one. The website in the image is a genuine Starbucks retail portal only accessible to employees, and the Starbucks referred to on the screen is a real location. There’s even the correct copyright information at the bottom of the webpage, if you look closely. All of that would seem to add up, although a dedicated prankster could arguably gin this up for laughs. We’ll likely find out tomorrow, as that’s the supposed launch date of this Pokemon promotion.
