Variety reports that the cable outlet formerly known as TNN is getting on the Taffer as talk show host trolley. They’ve greenlit a pilot for his late night talk show which doesn’t have a name as of yet. (May we suggest Shout Box? Or Basic Cable Programming Rescue?) In addition to hosting the show, Taffer is also onboard as an executive producer, a pretty standard move when you’re anchoring a chat program. The pilot also puts Taffer in the company of Adam Carolla who has a talk show, Adam Carolla and Friends Build Stuff Live, earmarked to start on Spike in 2017.
Spike is rather bullish on Taffer content at the moment. The fifth season of Bar Rescue will be stuffed with 30 episodes, plus 10 Back to the Bar specials. At this pace, he might be on 5-15 percent of future Lip Sync Battle episodes. Who doesn’t want to see Jon Taffer trying to outshine Anne Hathaway in a clash of dueling Toni Braxton impressions? Make it happen, Viacom bigwigs!
The new season of Bar Rescue begins on August 7.
