In case you didn’t hear, Dennis Rodman is an expert on North Korea. It’s something you can check out in the upcoming documentary Dennis Rodman’s Big Bang in Pyongyang, but I’m sure Rodman will talk to you about it too if you ask. He’s good pals with Kim Jong Un and has been known to dabble in foreign affairs pertaining to the nation.

Now he’s doing it again by inserting himself into the drama surrounding the newly Netflixed film The Interview. In his own interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rodman laid out his first real comments on the Rogen/Franco film:

“They’re doing a movie about North Korea and it’s a comedy. And I went cool, cool cool. The next thing you know, I’m seeing some of the pieces, and he wants to go kill this guy? That ain’t funny. That is not funny,” Rodman recalled.

“That’s disrespect,” he shouted, forcing Bill Laimbeer to run out and punch someone in the face to right the wrong.

Rodman says that the North Korea showcased in The Interview is not the one that he knows. He’s been treated with respect and considers himself a close friend of Kim Jong Un, using his documentary to drive the point home:

“This is the real North Korea, this is the real movie,” he tells THR of Big Bang, not The Interview, which he says he hasn’t seen and doesn’t think he ever will.

Rodman recalls being awed by his interactions with regime leader Kim Jong Un. “To see a guy like that , this 5-foot 2 or 5-foot 1 guy, have that much power, in a country like that, and see people get emotional, crying, 20 thousand of them clapping, it was so surreal. It blew my mind,” he says.

Because of this special relationship, Rodman wants to take Seth Rogen to North Korea and show his the real country that he skewered on the screen:

“I would have liked to have said to [Rogen], ‘Let’s go to North Korea and actually see it. See what’s really going on. Then make your movie,'” Rodman says.

He continued: “I would still [take Rogen] now. I would ask Seth and all those involved in the movie to go to North Korea with me. And then do an interview with me about the movie.”

At this point, I’m just waiting for Rodman to have that Dave Skylark moment. To see that the grapefruits are fat kid are fake. To witness something he wasn’t meant to see before he arrived. I’m not an expert on the nation, but I’ve seen enough to know that he’s living in some sort of fantasy world.

But yeah, let’s take Seth Rogen to North Korea. I’m sure that’ll go over well considering he just helped murder your god king friend in a movie. Fictional, yes, but I don’t think that’s going to matter.
