The 72nd Annual Golden Globes are this Sunday, and they are worth looking forward to just for the fact that (A) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting again and (B) there’s enough accessible booze that a nominee could really say almost anything during his or her acceptance speech. (As for these particular awards themselves? Not so much.)

Anyway, we thought it might be fun to look back at the 42nd Annual Golden Globes that took place on January 27, 1985 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The big winners that night were Amadeus for Best Film – Drama, Romancing the Stone (what?) for Best Film – Musical or Comedy, F. Murray Abraham won Best Actor – Drama for his work in Amadeus, and Sally Field won Best Actress – Drama for Places in the Heart (who, two months later, would give her famous “you like me” speech after winning the Academy Award).

More importantly, Pee Wee Herman and Elvira were there. So, yes, here’s a look at a few photos from the 42nd annual Golden Globes that offers an eclectic snapshot of what was 1985.
