Say what you will about Watchmen (Patton Oswalt certainly has), it at least tried to stay true to the comic while improving the ending. And Zack Snyder’s goal to “save it from the Terry Gilliams of this world” eventually resulted in an iPhone video of Carla Gugino and Malin Akerman making out, so we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
Watchmen also had a distinctive feel and an alternative version of Smashing Pumpkin’s “The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning”. The Unusual Suspect wondered how another movie would look with a similar style and score. Above is what The Avengers may have looked like had Zack Snyder never joined the DC side. Yeah, I’d still watch that.
