Kenneth Branagh is enjoying dabbling in a variety of genres as a director; he’s done action (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, in which he also acted), he’s done Shakespeare, he’s even played other legendary actor-directors (Sir Laurence Olivier in My Week With Marilyn). He’s also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the director of Thor, but if he had the chance, he wouldn’t make that his last trip to the comic book movie genre. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his most recent directorial effort, Cinderella, he was asked about doing another Marvel movie:

I’m pleased to say that I continue to have good relationships with all my Marvel family. It’s a people game the movie game, and although these films are big articulated lorries, they still have to be driven by real people. I fondly remember good times working on Thor. So you always look to repeat that kind of thing, and if it happened again, I’d be delighted.

In case you don’t speak British, “lorries” are trucks. That would make Thor the truck driver. And Loki is that rascally little scamp throwing nails on the road, or a traffic cop trying to give Thor a ticket. Puts things in perspective, right? Are you also thinking of great Asgardian curses? They could be even filthier than truck driver curses! And fancier!

It’s great to know that an opening is there for Branagh to come back and direct for Marvel again. Though he might have some competition with another rising director: Selma helmer Ava DuVernay, who said she’s also open to such a project. I’ll go ahead and let that fabulous cup of tea steep.
