Ben Affleck Slipped A ‘Batman’ Joke Into His Senate Testimony

Ben Affleck spoke to the Senate yesterday about the work he does with the Eastern Congo Initiative, which essentially provides money to the citizens of said region to start their own businesses and initiatives, as well as build infrastructure. And while he’s at it, he dropped a Batman joke into his testimony because why not?

Found by the Hollywood Reporter, the joke comes around the 1:30 mark, where he acknowledges Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) as his “co-star in Batman.” For those unfamiliar, Leahy is a massive Bat-nerd: He’s had a cameo in no fewer than three Batman movies, including the last two, and he’s even done a small voice-acting bit in Batman: The Animated Series. Heck, he’s been in Batman & Robin and blurbed Frank Miller’s near-universally loathed The Dark Knight Strikes Again, so you know he loves Batman if he’s willing to suffer through those.

It seems that he’ll be continuing the trend with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. See, this is why you should run for office. Move up enough, and you’ll get onto the set of a Batman movie.
