‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Will Be The First Feature Film Shot Entirely Using IMAX Cameras

Last month, Joe Russo revealed plans to use the new IMAX/ARRI 2D digital camera to shoot a 15-minute segment to be featured in Captain America: Civil War. This will mark the first time the technology will ever be used in a feature film.

Not to be outdone, Marvel just announced the Russo Brothers’ plans to use the new IMAX digital camera technology to shoot ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ in its entirety:

Joe and Anthony Russo stated, “The intent with the Infinity War films is to bring 10 years of accumulative storytelling to an incredible climax. We felt that the best way to exploit the scale and scope required to close out the final chapter of these three phases, was to be the first films shot entirely on the IMAX/Arri Digital camera.”

The ginormous cast for Captain America: Civil War was just announced and the film is set for a theatrical release of May 6th, 2016. IMAX will be releasing Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 on May 4th, 2018 with Part 2 coming in 2019 on May 3.
