David Foster Wallace Wants To Be A ‘Regular Guy’ In ‘The End Of The Tour’ Trailer

The first trailer for The End of the Tour, also known as Jason Segel’s David Foster Wallace film, has been released online.

The End of the Tour is based on David Lipsky’s book Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace, and it follows Lipsky as he joins Wallace for the last leg of the Infinite Jest press tour. The film is directed by James Ponsoldt who also directed The Spectacular Now, another stand-out at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. Uproxx’s Mike Ryan saw The End of Tour at Sundance, and he wrote that it was one of the best films he had seen at the festival.

The trailer makes the film look like an intellectual road trip with discussions ranging from Die Hard to Wallace’s signature bandana, his concerns about losing his “regular guy-ness,” and why writers choose to write. Between the great reviews from Sundance and this first trailer, hopefully fans of David Foster Wallace who complained about the casting of Jason Segel will feel assured that this movie is in good hands.
