‘I Was Impotent, Fatigued, Emotionally Depressed’: Chris Pratt On Being Nearly 300 Pounds

It’s no secret that excess weight gain can wreak havoc on all your bodily systems from emotional to physical, and now Chris Pratt is opening up about the torture he suffered from his weight fluctuations. The Jurassic World star was almost 300 pounds when he worked on Parks and Recreation, and he spoke to Men’s Health UK about the maladies that came along with the weight.

“I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way,” Pratt told the magazine. “It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

Pratt has since dropped the weight and looks better than ever, leading-man status even. His weight fluctuations started with Moneyball and went from there for his next several projects. “I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy,” he told Men’s Health. “That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again.’ ”

Now, Pratt is trim and he even appears in a wet T-shirt on the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly sporting a chiseled frame. Keep up the good work, Pratt. I’m sure Anna Faris has nothing to complain about.
